Legendary Reggae Icon Tabby Diamond Shot Dead
On Tuesday night, Donald Orlando Shaw, aka Tabby Diamond, of the celebrated group The Potent Diamonds, was fatally shot.
Tabby Diamond was the lead songster of The Potent Diamonds, a Jamaican reggae band.
According to reports, a shooter opened fire on a gathering of people outside a business, killing the musician. Shaw and another man were pronounced dead at the sanitarium, while three others were admitted with projectile injuries.
The Potent Diamonds released a statement attesting Tabby Diamond’s end and thanking suckers for their love and support, but also requesting sequestration.
The Jamaican harmony triad with strong Rastafarian influence is known for songs similar as “ Pass the Kouchie”, “ Right Time’and “ Have Mercy”.
The group, which was formed in December 1969 in Kingston, comprised Tabby who was the lead voice and Harmony Voices, Fitzroy “ Bunny” Simpson and Lloyd Ferguson.
The triad met in academy in themid-1960s and were firstly known as the Spotlight, but after Shaw’s mama began pertaining to them as”The Diamonds,”they changed their name to” Potent Diamonds.”
“Right Time,”their debut reader, is still considered one of roots reggae’s all- time classics, and” Pass the Kouchie,” released in 1981, is also popular up to moment.
“Pass the Kouchie”, came an transnational megahit doubly, when first released, on their reader‘ Changes’, and again when it was covered by Musical Youth with altered lyric to remove the medicine references, and released as” Pass the Dutchie”.
