Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Safety Officer to be placed in Musina . The successful candidate will report to the Risk Coordinator . The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
  • Sound understanding of M&RC and client safety systems, policies and procedures
  • M&RC and client risk assessment methodologies and principles
  • Sound knowledge of Rand Mutual processes
  • Understanding of accident / incident techniques
  • Conducting investigations and recording findings

Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent Valid Code 08 Drivers’ licence
  • Trade certificate (Section 13)
  • Degree / Diploma in Safety, Risk, Health, Environment, Quality, Hygiene or Training Management (preferred)
  • Engineering Trade Certificate
  • Basic knowledge of mining operations and methods
  • Basic knowledge of relevant safety principles and systems
  • Knowledge of relevant ISO standards (9001, 14001 and 45000)
  • Strata control knowledge
  • Blasting knowledge
  • COMSOC 1 and 2
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • 3-5 years’ mining sector experience
