“My name is Mheshimiwa Dorea Chege and as you all know I’m vying for the position of Woman Rep Nairobi County. I’m here but I’m not happy by the way. I am receiving messages, I am receiving calls of threats from you guys,” revealed Dorea.
The actress however maintained that this will not deter her from venturing into politics.
“Let me tell you, I’m not stepping down…One thing you need to know is that I’m not a coward. I may not have that money but let me tell you, lets meet at the ballot, lets the votes talk,” she said.
In recent weeks, a number of female celebrities have expressed interest in vying for political seats and the latest addition is media personality Njambi Koikai who is eyeing the Dagoretti South parliamentary seat.
Having been born and bred in the area, Njambi explained that she understands the needs and wants of the residents
“Growing up in Dagoretti, I experienced the harsh living conditions in our community due to lack of resources. The spirit of community and service to others was instilled in me at an early age because we had to take care of each other as family, neighbours and friends.
“People in Dagoretti South aspire to live a better life for themselves and their children. The spirit of community and purpose can be felt in our drive, the friendships we’ve created since childhood which have been passed on from generation to generation. Living in this community has shaped my values and the direction of my life.
This has encouraged me to work for my community to improve the social and economic status of our people by working together,” she wrote.
