Duties and responsibilities:

  • Establish Faculty Student Governance Structures in line with the ISRC Constitution and the Institutional Statute.
  • Provide capacity for all student governance elective and transitional processes.
  • Actively facilitate the Engagement of faculty Student Governance Structures in Student Governance Activities, such as Student Councils, Public Life of the UFS etcetera.
  • Actively facilitate the active participation of faculty Student Governance Structures in Senate and faculty boards.
  • Actively facilitate the active participation of faculty Student Governance Structures in ITP, Dialogues, Seminars and Critical Conversations.
  • Liaise and collaborate with faculty management to ensure the active participation of faculty student representative structures within faculty governance structures.
  • Facilitate the establishment and functioning of faculty assemblies in collaboration with faculty management.
  • Empower and provide Logistical Support to faculty Student Governance Structures for Event and Project Management.
  • Design and implement Student Governance Induction Programmes for faculty Student Governance Structures.
  • Familiarise faculty student governance structures with the Higher Education Act, The Institutional Statute, The ISRC Constitution, The Institutional Rules, The General Rules and other relevant policies and provisions of the University of the Free State.
  • Empower faculty student representatives on Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms.

Inherent requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or a B.Tech degree on NQF level 7.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant working experience in organised student life and governance, related to the duties and responsibilities.

  • The ability to negotiate, sell, influence and to persuade others.
  • The ability to interact with others and various stakeholders and establish personal connections with people.

Recommendations:

  • Knowledge of UFS finance and procurement procedures.
  • Knowledge of UFS systems such as PeopleSoft and Outlook.
  • Experience in using PeopleSoft.
  • Demonstrated administrative experience.
  • A valid driver’s license (please attach copy).

Salary:

The annual remuneration package, including benefits is: R424 633.54 – R516 255.55 depending on the budget available for the position, relevant work experience and qualifications.

Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

Experience:

Appropriate experience in the field of domestic and hospital cleaning services.

Inherent requirements of the job:

Physically able to lift and or move heavy objects and supplies.

Ability to operate machinery and equipment used in domestic and hospital cleaning services.

Competencies (knowledge/skills):

Good communication skills (read, speak and write) in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.

Good Interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of the correct methods of handling and disposal of refuse /waste products and adherence to policy and cleaning practices.

Duties (Key result areas/outputs):

Effective and efficient utilization and storage of cleaning material and equipment.

Provide optimal support to the supervisor and colleagues with general housekeeping duties and services.

Adhering to general hygienic and safe environment in terms of standards and procedures.
