Job summary
Would you like to accelerate cloud computing adoption at the Enterprise level? Would you like to be part of a team focused on increasing awareness and adoption of Amazon Web Services (AWS) by engaging with South African public sector customers as they reinvent their IT strategy with cloud computing? Do you have the business savvy, public sector industry experience, and the technical background necessary to help further establish AWS as a leading cloud platform provider?

As part of the Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) team at AWS, this position will lead our efforts to deliver game-changing solutions in South Africa. Responsibilities include working with members of AWS WWPS capture, technical, and account teams to develop winning and innovative proposals in response to must-win Requests for Tenders and other procurement processes; managing oral presentations and demonstrations; supporting escalations and briefings; managing and conducting team reviews; and generating unsolicited documents and whitepapers.

You possess demonstrated public sector proposal management and proposal writing experience; are highly determined and motivated in driving teams towards defined (and often rushed and high-visibility) deliverables; and have the proposal process development and leadership background necessary to effectively support a dynamic and rapidly growing business. You should have industry background that enables you to develop win themes and technical discriminators for inclusion into proposals, a contracts background that enables you to easily interact with legal staff, as well as a technical background or familiarity that enables you to easily interact with technical and business leaders. You should also be able to think strategically about AWS’s mission, products, and technical challenges, with the demonstrated ability to build and convey compelling value propositions in a written context. You should be familiar with South African acquisition guidelines and experienced with any regional tender compliance requirements. Finally, you should be willing to support often-grueling and aggressive proposal timelines and commitments.

Key job responsibilities

  • Act as the primary interface for RFx response efforts, leading proposal responses on complex, strategic opportunities, and supporting partners on indirect deals.
  • Understand and navigate South African contracting vehicles and tender procedures.
  • Execute RFx proposal response plans while collaborating with key internal stakeholders (e.g. capture, sales, service teams, security, legal, and compliance).
  • Develop win themes and technical discriminators specific to South African RFx opportunities.
  • Validate RFx response requirements and ensure proposal compliance.
  • Hold kick-off discussions/meetings for critical proposal efforts to discuss overall messaging, flow, and common themes, and conduct regular check-ins with authors of critical sections.
  • Lead content development and reviews with teammates.
  • Be a thought leader with respect to proposal responses, win themes, technical discriminators, and pricing.
  • Provide input to a library of approved proposal content for quick-turnaround opportunities.
  • Moderate travel will be required.
  • 7+ years of proposal management experience supporting public sector customers.
  • Good understanding of South African procurement and contract vehicles.
  • Customer-focused and self-motivated with a great sense of urgency and follow-through.
  • Comfortable communicating with, and gaining consensus from, internal leadership teams.
  • Advanced degree.
  • Ability to develop appropriate thematic graphics using standard desktop tools.

Your job

As a Care Team Senior Supervisor, you will be managing a team based in KL, Nairobi and Madrid. You will be responsible to motivate your own teams to ensure production levels and targets are achieved, to ensure effective processing controls are in place across locations, as well as championing efforts that achieve the highest possible levels of provider experience and satisfaction that enable the company to meet its growth and profit objectives.

Your role will be broader than the day-to-day management of the team – your agile, provider centric mindset will ensure that you contribute to our overall provider operations strategy, identifying opportunities to enhance the service proposition and to improve the efficiencies and productivity of your teams. Your role will report into the Care Senior Manager based in Madrid.

Your role will be to: 

  • Responsible to lead dedicated care teams across the globe in and efficient and effective way.
  • Build and bring alive a true culture of provider centricity.
  • Responsible to meet operational KPI’s within the team in terms of production, quality, TAT, amongst others, and bring those alive across the team to deliver on those.
  • Analysing support workflows and making suggestions to improve efficiency and effectiveness and be active in seeking and sharing ideas for innovation in business processes.
  • Managing schedules of team members according to customer/provider demand and any service levels agreements.

  • Assisting and contributing with the design and rollout of new operational excellence projects.
  • Ensure strong employee engagement within the team, including day to day oversight, motivation, conflict management, training, wellbeing, and performance by providing coaching and skill development in collaboration with the other Care Team management and PSO Management Team
  • Working closely with senior management to help customer/ provider service deliver on their components of overall company goals and objectives.
  • Be a focal point for the PSO leads as well as other internal stakeholders.
  • Leading and supporting your teams through required changes.
  • International travel on quarterly basis might be required.

Your profile

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience leading operational teams within the company or outside.
  • International mind-set, with holistic and able to work remotely with colleagues and direct reports across locations.
  • Striving for excellent service to our members, clients, and providers.
  • Experience in and passion for coaching, managing, developing, and motivating individuals and the team.
  • Experience in change and process improvement management – with a proven track record in improving customer service standards.
  • Experience managing offshore teams.
  • Strong presentation skills, and knowledge of Window Office tools like Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • A growth mindset with a positive attitude towards change and the ability to play an active role in implementing change initiatives.
  • Competency to build a team and create an atmosphere of positive collaboration, innovation and creative solutioning among the team members.
  • Proven data analytics skills (advanced Excel, Qlikview, Tableau …).
  • Results orientated – ability to cascade and explain goals, establish plans and manage work to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Strong communication skills: demonstrating drive and enthusiasm. High level of English is a requirement.
